About The Event
"Olivia Laing once said so poignantly: “All of my books start with somebody breaking up with me.” I think the sentiment someone might conclude from this is a construed perspective to believe that pain is at the core of it. But it is not pain that sparks creativity but the final absence of it, the release of that burden you were carrying.
The reason I write after a heartbreak or dark times is because I am finally free to work again. Because the ghost that was causing me to be uninspired and unproductive has finally stopped rattling. I write because I am not having the heartbreak any longer. Writing creates that space. Art is my personal recognition of that."
Is what I wrote in my poetic memoir "Things I Have Loved – A collection" published in 2023.
In this hands-on creative writing workshop I will give you tools and inspiration to start your own journey of personal essay/ memoir-writing.
Specifically how to write about relationships and other people, what you can and can't write without permission etc..
Within a small group we will discuss your ideas, texts and different techniques so that you will leave this workshop inspired and ready to write.
Preferrably you will book both workshop days, so that you have the chance to put what you've learned into practice and receive feedback.
However both workshops work singularly and it is not mandatory to write an essay draft in between.
